Goals of the Meeting

This tutorial provides an integrated diagnostic and clinical work-up of hematological disorders. The scientific program takes participants through the diagnostic and clinical pathway with plenary lectures, interactively conducted clinical case study sessions and self-assessment sessions.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this tutorial, participants will be able to:

  • Review classical approaches to the characterization of patients with lymphoid malignancies, multiple myeloma and marrow failure syndromes  and treatment and management of complications including infections, drug toxicity, tumour lysis syndrome, and selection of treatment modalities including appropriate selection of stem cell transplant as a treatment option
  • Review use of patient characterization by using prognostic markers and other indicators to select best treatment modalities including novel drugs their indications, adverse effects and uses in detail with novel approaches in monitoring patients 
  • Review appropriate selection of patients for novel trials and usefulness of current trials and appropriate use of stem cell transplantation

Hematology trainees, hematologists and oncologists in Sri Lanka and the Southeast Asia region.
