EHA is involved in several European projects such as the PROFILE project.
EHA increased its efforts to support research in hematology in Europe. These efforts include advocating for increased research funding and improved research regulations. As well as supporting the careers of excellent researchers in hematology through funding and education programs. Moreover EHA itself participates in selected European research projects, not doing the science, but offering a platform to collaborate and disseminate the results. Currently, EHA is involved as a partner organization in a Marie Sklodowska Curie Innovative Training Network – European Industrial Doctorate (EID) project called ‘PROFILE’. In this project, six Phd students are trained in the field of Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP).
EHA is partner in the PROFILE Network: The ‘PROFILE’ Innovative Trainning Network (European Industrial Doctoral programme) aims at stratifying acquired thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) patients by understanding disease pathology, using new types of biomarkers and predicting their risk for relapse.
The outcome of this project will be crucial for treatment adjustment in these patients and development of personalized medicine in the future. To stratify acquired TTP patients (or any other patients with an autoimmune disorder), a unique research approach and specialized translational training programme is needed.
