Scientific Workshop on Leukemic and Cancer Stem Cells
DATES: April 26-28, 2013
LOCATION: Mandelieu, France
ORGANIZING COMMITTEE: D Bonnet, C Chomienne, P Valent
SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE: M Andreeff, G Dontu, MH Lafage-Proust, MH Raaijmakers
EHA-ESH Scientific Workshops present state-of-the-art science. This workshop promotes informal interaction and discussion between scientists and clinicians working in the field.
The identification of cancer stem cells (CSC) in hematological diseases and in solid tumors, has led to the emergence of a new field in cancer research that is expected to provide insights into oncogenesis and hope for improved survival and cure. Recent research has highlighted the opportunity to target cells of the stem cell’s microenvironment. This workshop will provide the latest findings on the microenvironnement (bone, vasculature ...) of the normal and malignant stem cells and the tools to study the links between the stem cell and the cells of its microenvironement.
This workshop will cover the following topics:
-
Vascularisation and CSC
-
Tumor/CSC and Immunity
-
Skeletal and HSC niches in Bone
-
CSC and their niche
-
HSC/LSC and their niche
-
Solid Cancer Stem Cell and their niche
-
CSC and Metastasis
-
CSC/LSC and Hypoxia

CME Accreditation
The programme of the ESH-EHA Scientific Workshop on Leukemic and Cancer Stem Cells: Malignant Stem Cells and their Microenvironment has been reviewed and approved for CME accreditation by the European Hematology Association CME Unit. The EHA-CME Unit has approved this educational activity for a maximum number of CME credits. Each physician should only claim credits for time that she/he actually spent in the educational activity.
