National Societies

EHA and representatives of national hematology societies meet on a regular basis during the Annual Congress of EHA to discuss items of primary importance such as harmonization in education and specialty training and accessibility of high quality continuing medical education (CME).

These issues have an impact on transfer of knowledge, mobility of specialists throughout Europe and ultimately on the quality of patient care. Therefore, the agenda for these meetings is prepared in close collaboration with the EHA board and presidents/representatives of national societies.

EHA is offering a package of services to the national hematology societies. The purpose of the package is to facilitate the communication between the national societies and EHA.

The package consists of the following benefits

Direct Communication line with EHA It is important for EHA to stay in close contact with all European national hematology societies. Therefore direct communication lines between national society representatives and/or presidents and the EHA have been implemented: nat.societies@ehaweb.org.

Data Exchange The EHA encourages the national societies to submit their membership database to the EHA. The EHA will use this database to disseminate information relevant to hematology. Protection of privacy is a major concern for EHA. Therefore, any personal information submitted is treated in accordance with the principle of just use, legality and transparency, and with full respect to the society “individuals� privacy and other rights. Promotion European national hematology societies are encouraged to use Haematologica/The Hematology Journal and the EHA website as platform for announcing accredited, scientific activities organized by the national society. Participation in the EHA Working Groups National Societies are encouraged to participate in the EHA Scientific working groups. For more information contact Ineke van der Beek at i.vanderbeek@ehaweb.org

Annual National Society Meeting Each year, the EHA organizes the Annual National Society meeting for the national societies throughout Europe. This provides the representatives with a platform to meet colleagues. Costs for this annual event are partly covered by EHA.

EHA CME Provider National Societies are eligible to become official EHA-CME Providers. A EHA-CME Provider takes on the responsibility for the accreditation of national meetings according to the EHA-CME Standards & Guidelines. Official EHA-CME Providers do not use the EHA CME review board as they take on the responsibility to review the meetings independently. Curriculum – Passport National Societies will play a key role in the implementation of the Curriculum-Passport in their respective country. Each national society has been requested to identify a key individual who is involved in the registration and/or monitoring of hematology trainees.
